Hello, I'm Adriane and I live in Minnesota. Growing up I had a natural knack for drawing and painting and was encouraged to go to art school. Entering college I had a brief fine arts experience, but I found it rather uninspiring. I loved movies and monsters and FX make-up really interested me, especially the creatures and monsters from Stan Winston's Studios (think Aliens, Jurassic Park, Terminator), which made me pick up sculpture after living for a few years in San Diego. Sadly, I lived there for a brief time, but it inspired me to get back into art after having my son and I began teaching myself with Sculpey originally.
After a year of that I began to take it more seriously, and more recently switched to monster clay (and the tedious process of casting and molding) and then focused on what my style truly was. Now, three years later I switched away from cartoons and began to focus on animal anatomy and realism. But with fantasy....Yeah.
What mostly inspires me is nature and the animal kingdom, then pushed to the extreme into creatures of myth and legends. And don't forget the creatures (and monsters) of urban legends or cryptozoology. All my life I was drawn to reading about these subjects and they were in my doodles, writing and favorite movies and it was only natural to begin sculpting and drawing the creatures of my (but playfully macabre) imagination. I hope you enjoy my art, and the beginning of my journey as an artist.
